THE MISSION OF THE GARTH HOMER SOCIETY IS TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDEPENDENCE, GROWTH AND PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY WITH PEOPLE WHO STRIVE TO OVERCOME DEVELOPMENTAL AND PHYSICAL OBSTACLES.

David Whiting

David was born in London, Ontario in 1963 and grew up in Sarnia. At the age of eight, as he awaited surgery at Toronto’s Sick Children’s Hospital, he became bored and scared. He started to draw. A teacher recognized David’s talent and encouraged him to take art classes. He has been drawing and painting ever since. David studied art at Lambton College for seven years. He takes his inspiration from “popular culture”, including soap operas, TV shows and advertising. David joined ArtWorks in December 2005 and has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions in Victoria, Vancouver, the USA and Scotland. David says,” Since I have been in ArtWorks I have made lots of friends and many people have told me they want to come and see my art exhibitions.”
