Recycling Program
Every weekday clients in the Community Access Recycling Program collect, sort and return for deposit hundreds of bottles and cans. This is made possible because of generous contributions from their community partners. The CAT clients practice organizational skills, motor skills, social skills and learn the value of work for money. In 2007 after reading an inspiring article about ‘positivelyAfrica’ in Boulevard Magazine, the CAT Recycling Program decided they would like to contribute to needy communities in Africa. “I think it’s good to recycle because it helps people in Africa. All the stuff we take for granted is stuff that they need like water and food. It makes me feel good to help people who are less fortunate. They are people just like us and deserve a good life.” Taiha CAT client One hundred percent of all the funds raised through the Recycling Program go directly to positivelyAfrica projects in Lesotho and Kenya. This worthwhile fundraising allows our clients to make connections here in Victoria and enables them to give back in an important way to people who need a helping hand, halfway around the world in Africa.
