The Facility
In 1977, Garth Homer brought together a group of community members to build the Centre that now stands at 813 Darwin Avenue. The building acts as a primary base for Garth Homer Society activities in the community. The building is fully utilized by clients for their activities, whether cooking, yoga or Girl Power. Each program has different needs, for example the STARR room requires a calm environment, therefore it is situated at a quiet end of the building and the lights are kept low. Our building houses seven different program areas serving clients with different needs. Three program areas have kitchenettes. A larger kitchen is located next to the auditorium. Tenants The building houses three tenants: Independent Living Housing Society, Victoria Epilepsy & Parkinson’s Centre and Trinity Christian Church. Rooms available for rent Available space includes an auditorium, meeting room and board room which are used by the Society and Tenants during the day and booked by regular renters during most evenings.
