THE MISSION OF THE GARTH HOMER SOCIETY IS TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDEPENDENCE, GROWTH AND PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMUNITY WITH PEOPLE WHO STRIVE TO OVERCOME DEVELOPMENTAL AND PHYSICAL OBSTACLES.

Deanne McKinney

Deanne was born in 1969 and has been drawing and painting her whole life. She worked in the GHS art studio from 1993-1999. Deanne left the studio to pursue other programs at GH and re-joined the ArtWorks Program in 2009.

Deanne loves to paint and draw using the bright bold colours . She expresses her subjects using thick linear lines with intense pure colours. She is dedicated and focused on her art making and is always willing to try new mediums and subject matter. She loves to paint images of animals, people, flowers and houses that are both representational and abstract in nature.

Over the past year Deanne has studied the work of native artist Norval Morrisseau and she is influenced by his use of bold design and striking colours. Deanne has participated and sold her work in many group exhibitions in the Victoria community and at ArtWorks Karin Koerner Gallery.
